Beyond the Edge Artists - "Say Something" exhibit

"101 and Counting" by Mia Bloom

I have the honor of being a founding member of Beyond the Edge Artists. We have new exhibit called "Say Something" that will be premiering at Pacific International Quilt Festival. The show runs from October 17-20, 2019 and will be held at the Santa Clara Convention Center located at 5001 Great America Parkway, Santa Clara, CA.

My piece is called "101 and Counting". My artist statement:

This 40"x40" fiber art piece was created for an exhibit titled "Say Something". Inspiration for this work came from my continuing search for a full-time job after taking time off to take care of my mom. Listed on this quilt are only 101 positions that I have applied to since starting this search. The list is much longer and continues to grow since I'm still looking for a full-time job.

Materials used and technique:

Commercial fabric, Sharpie marker, handwritten text and quilted.
