"Close The Door Behind You" Postcard

Another finished fiber postcard for my mini group. The theme was "Closure". What first came to mind was an article in Quilting Arts Magazine from 2007. Every quilt in this article had a door. Closing a door represents closure to me. In my postcard, I'm closing the door to negative thoughts. Negativity stops people from moving forward. With the new year approaching, I hope to move forward..........putting any negative thoughts behind me.
Happy Holiday!

Noble Seasons: Fall 2011

I was invited to participate in a traveling exhibit called Noble Seasons: Fall 2011. My art quilt is called Autumn Glow. Fall brings to mind the rich colors of the leaves - yellow, orange, vermilion, red with some green. My artwork is moving towards more the abstract form. I want the viewer to take away from my artwork what they see......not what I tell them to see.

Please check back as I will be updating this post when I know the traveling schedule for this exhibit.

"Paper Plaid" Fiber Postcard

I recently finished another fiber postcard for the mini art group. The theme was "Out of the Box". Initially, I was thinking of designing a box but I thought that it would be too literal. I took it a step further. What about thinking outside the box by using a non-traditional material? So, I decided to incorporate paper.

"Beachfront Property" Fiber Postcard

Recently, I was invited to join a small art quilt group that makes fiber postcards. Every other month a postcard is made from a theme that is selected by the group. After the postcard is made then it is sent off to the trade person. The theme for August was "Shelter". It was a timely theme for me because my living situation had a bit of a shake up. My entry is called "Beachfront Property". Sometimes I wish I lived on a deserted island in a glass hut without any neighbors.
