New collage art journal and new collages

I finished creating in my last art journal here. This is an art journal that I had in my collection. I made it some time ago when I wanted to practice the Coptic stitch. It isn't fancy or cute or (fill in the blank). It's functional. The 7 inches x 9.5 inches portrait orientation substrate is a discarded book cover with decorative duct tape. There's 7 signatures of 80lb drawing paper. Each signature has 3 folios. I'm gradually crating in larger art journals, which pushes me creatively. The last journal was 7 inches x8.5 inches landscape orientation.

This is the first collage created in my new art journal. It was fun and a bit challenging to create in this new size and format. It has a combination of artist made papers, altered papers and commercially printed papers. Creating

Creating this collage was outside my comfort zone. Multiple layers of torn papers, if not done thoughtfully, can be a mess. This is why I like creating in an art journal. It gives me permission to play.

I usually don't title my collages that reside in an art journal. If I did give this one a title, it would be "Kitchen Sink". 😉

Another multiple layered collage. Practice, practice, practice.

 Fun, off center collage.

Final new collages in my art journal

Below are the final new collages in my current art journal. Here are links to other posts about this art journal and collages: here, and here.

The two orange, overlapping rectangles were last minute additions that gave a bit more interest to the collage.

The next two collages continue the similar structural design.

The ground is paper that I used at my day job. We're supposed to be paperless. Sometimes I need to write down information for my brain to understand or remember it.

Collage Stop Motion Video

A stop motion video of a collage being created. I have been experimenting more with making videos. It’s a fun and challenging media for me since I use my cellphone to film.

A special thanks for my multi-talented friend, Gene Brown, for creating the music for this video.

Commissioned Art Journal Video

This art journal is on its way to a new home. It gives me so much enjoyment to create an art journal for someone else.

It's 5.5 inches x 8.5 inches with 1.25 inches spine. I was able to use the spine that came with the discarded book. All fabric is commercial. There's 4 paper signatures. Each signature includes 3 80lb drawing papers, 1 two sided monoprinted paper and 1 two sided monoprinted using leaves from my yard. Also, included is a red folder for storage. The tie is a recycled sari ribbon.

Music from youcut: "Feeling Fine"

Video is sped up 1.5x to be under 1 minute.
