Collage #47

Collage #47 is another piece that using remnants from other artwork. I cut up the purple fabric in uneven squares and rectangles on randomly machine stitched on top of cut up book pages. Then I got the idea to machine stitch lines on top of the book pages echoing the outline of the purple squares/rectangles. It was easy at first then as I stitched closer to the spiral spine of the journal it became increasingly difficult.

  1. You've done it again, Mia!. This is a great study. I had a crazy thought that you could call it Tumbling Blocks Revisited (and Revised). I had no idea that you were creating your collages in a sketch book. Great idea. If you do something like this again, you might change your foot to a zipper foot when you get close to the spine.

  2. Great title for this piece, Linda! I'm definitely going to use it. I don't title all my collages that are in the small journal. Sometimes the titles come to me when I'm working on the collage or when a good friend makes a suggestion. Thanks for the suggestion of a zipper foot. I didn't think about that. It will help machine stitch close to the spiral spine of the journal. Thanks!
