Days 1 - 5 | A Collage A Day November 2025

I was surprised when I saw that the last “A Collage A Day” video was a year ago! This time around, I’m doing things a bit differently. I will be creating in different types of sketchbooks, but I will use leftover scraps along with larger painted and monoprinted papers and ephemera.

I know that not everyone can create every day due to different time constraints and responsibilities. I hope that this video and the rest of the November a collage a day videos will inspire you maybe use some of my collages as reference or try different techniques or even the supplies I’m using. I encourage you to have fun!

Creating a Collage using Transparent Papers

I'm using a few of the transparent papers made in my previous video to create a collage. Also, I'm testing if painted gift tissue paper works as well as painted art tissue paper. Thanks for watching

How to Monoprint Deli Paper and Paint Tissue Paper

I needed to replenish my transparent papers stash, so I thought I would film the process. I'm using deli paper, which will be monoprinted, and 2 types of tissue paper, which will be hand painted. Thanks for watching!

Quick layered and transparent sketches in my altered book sketchbook

I have been creating quick collages that explore layering and transparency in my altered book sketchbook. I noticed that my color palette is gravitating towards autumn colors. Maybe it's me subconsciously hoping for cooler temperatures.

Back to Basics: Grayscale Collages

For this video, I thought we would create two collages in grayscale. It's such a great exercise, especially if you’re new to collaging or art in general. It forces you to see beyond color and focus entirely on how light, mid-tone, and dark values work together. Learning value contrast helps in creating a successful piece of art. Creating a 16"X20" Colorful Geometric Collage

A while ago, I used a sheet of 16"x20" 140lb watercolor paper to create a collage that I cut into 16 smaller collages. In this video, I'm creating one 16"x20" collage. My process is different for this collage since it's larger. Thanks for watching!

Sketchbook Session Series #12 | painted abstract people

I'm continuing to explore abstract people in my art practice. In this video, I'm creating designs using acrylic paint, no collage. Besides showing my sketchbook practice, I like to show these sketching sessions to encourage you to incorporate sketchbooks in your art practice. Thanks for watching!

Leftover Scraps Collages #9 - large collage cut into smaller collages

My leftover scraps container is full. I like to use these scraps to create small collages but this time I'm doing it differently. I'm starting with a piece of 16"x20" 140lb watercolor paper to collage on top of it. Then I cut it into 4"x5" collages. Thanks for checking out my blog post!

My current favorite art supplies

A viewer suggested a video of the paints and brushes that I use. I thought that was a great idea! Along with the paints and brushes that I use, I included a few of my current favorite art supplies. I hope you find this video helpful. Thanks for checking out my blog!

Creating painted papers using Absorbent Ground

My painted papers stash was getting low with all the collages I created last month. Instead of monoprinting or hand painting papers, I decided to use Absorbent Ground to create stained/watercolor looking papers. Thanks for watching!

30 simple ways to start a collage

In previous videos, I showed ways to start a collage so you're not starting with a blank substrate. I thought it would be helpful to combine 30 simple ways to start a collage in one video. I hope this video will be a good resource for viewers. Thanks for watching!

Creating a found ephemera collage #8

It has taken me months to find good found ephemera to use in a new collage. I got a suggestion to use "found" ephemera that's in my home. This new collage was created by using outside and inside found ephemera. Thanks for watching!

This is another video in my Sketchbook Session Series. Last year, I started exploring what I'm calling abstract people. I had two new design ideas that I wanted to get onto paper. Thanks for watching!
