Quick Painted Sketch Paper - Collage #11

I'm continuing to find the time to create quick painted sketch papers and collages inbetween other projects and responsibilities. Collage #11 took a few days to complete because I only had 10-20 minutes each day to work on it.  As with the other collages, I used my sewing machine to top stitch red thread instead of gluing the pieces together. Collage #11 has a darker overall value, which I like. Even though the patterns are quite different from each other, the collage doesn't have a busy feel to it.

People have been asking me what I'm going to do with these collages. To be honest, I just don't know. Instead of working in a sketchbook like other artists, I'm finding that working on these collages fills the need to create when I only have a short amount of time each day.

Quick Painted Sketch Paper - Collage #10

I'm not sure where the time has gone lately. It's already Wednesday and haven't found much time (10-20 minutes) daily to create art. Maybe it was the excess heat, maybe it was working in an office during the day or maybe I wasn't creatively inspired. Tonight, I pushed through the excuses and created Collage #10.

I used the same quickly painted sketch papers as the previous collages. Then machine stitch red thread instead of gluing the pieces together. Collage #10 is a bit outside my comfort zone because I normally don't put so many unrelated patterns together in one piece. Overall, I'm happy with the way this collage turned out.

Rolodex Project II

I had so much fun with the Rolodex Projec(click here),which was completed in March, that I wanted to do another one. As luck would have it, a good friend gifted me a newer model Rolodex the other day. This model will allow for more little pieces.

I want to change up the project's parameters this time around. Instead of creating one piece a day, I want to create a piece (2.5" x 4") after I finish an art project using the leftover materials. The Rolodex piece won't mimic exactly the art but will be inspired by it. On the back of each piece, I will write a brief description of the project to document the artwork referenced.

As some of you know, I've been working on collages (click here) created from quickly painted papers. There are tons of scraps leftover that are too small for these collages. Card #1 is made from these paper scraps and sewn using the same red thread.

Card #2 was made from scraps from 6"x8" sample artwork.

More Quick Painted Sketch Papers

Lately, I've been creating collages from these painted papers while working on other projects. I noticed the inventory of papers was running low so, the last few days I made time to make a few more. Time to create more collages!

Quick Painted Sketch Paper - Collage #9

I'm continuing to find the time to create quick painted sketch papers and collages inbetween other projects and responsibilities. I used my sewing machine to top stitch red thread instead of gluing the pieces together. Most of the collages so far have a vertical format. So, I decided to change it up with Collage #9, which has an allover layout
